Okay it`s an AI image (and a really bad one at that), but I love the idea.
Having a lower pullout for shoes in your bench system is just awesome! Such a smart use of space and such a great way to house all the shoes that inevitably end up strewn all over the floor. The shoe drama is real, creating an ocean of sneakers and a tripping hazard that wears on the most patient mama`s frazzled nerves.
................I mean, I`ve heard this from others and that it can potentially be a source of stress and chaos in some homes. We don`t have any such problem in our family. Upon returning home, my children carefully place each shoe in their assigned cubby with such love and precision, you`d swear they were returning a precious jewel to its glass case. But theoretically I`ve heard of people out there in the world that struggle with such problems. I feel for them. That must be so hard 🤣😂🤣
I love how this turned out!
It took away the swinging pantry doors and offered a solution that gives you sooooo much more space. It also eliminated that old desk space we see so much in early 80s and 90s kitchens. That space ended up being so much more valuable to them as a pantry. I just love it! Practical and beautiful—win win 🥇 🙌🎉
I often use this visual when helping clients understand the role of light and color in their space.
These squares are both grey--in fact they`re the SAME grey. Don`t believe me? Take your finger and cover the middle area, where the blocks come together.
Wild right?!?!
Your eye is constantly making comparisons when trying to identify and characterize a color and value. Your brain is subconsciously relating a color to the colors and values that surround it.
When designing, this is why it`s so important to understand the light in your space. It`s equally important to take into the account the surrounding colors..... ie The Paint on the walls, The Flooring, The Temperature of the bulbs in your light fixtures, what direction is that room facing etc.
Take samples into your space and watch them throughout the day. Make sure they play nicely with their "teammates" and that you still like it as the color inevitably changes with morning to evening light.
Happy to help you if you`re struggling! It`s not hard, just something to think about 🤓
Life’s been pretty hard lately. Sleep’s been difficult and getting through the days has been rough. Sometimes life just hits moments like that for everyone I think.
Apparently I don’t hide it as well as I think I do. The sweetest customer (and friend) came into the shop this week holding a bundle in her arms. She said she thought I needed a pick-me-up, and she wanted to make me something.
Tears 😭 Lots of tears. Look at this gorgeous hand pieced quilt she made me!!! I am so overwhelmed by her kindness and the hours this gift represents.
There is so much goodness in the world! I know we don’t hear about that near enough, but let this post represent the millions of acts of kindness that occur in our world each and every day. Pieced together, they can cover mankind and embrace us all in the warmth of a caring neighbor.
Go out of your way to be one of those “piece” makers. Small as it seems, insufficient as it appears, insignificant as it feels…those small, random acts of kindness are exactly what this world (and country) needs.
Thank you Sandy for being that kind of person! Thank you for making me cry in my own showroom. Thank you for showing up with a hug, and for sharing your incredible talent to bring joy to the world around you. I’ll cherish this beautiful quilt forever. More importantly, I’ll cherish a heart as good as yours forever ❤️❤️❤️
